China marks anniversaries with visa curbs

Beijing has tightened visa requirements in preparation for a series of sensitive anniversaries that culminate in October with the 60-year celebration of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The government has mostly stopped issuing temporary business travel visas – known as “F” class visas – for travel to China after September 15 and is checking applications for all other visa types more thoroughly, according to people familiar with the matter.
