Let battle commence at last chance saloon

Microsoft will on Thursday urge European regulators to step back from a threat to fine the world’s largest software company as much as €2m ($2.4m) a day – but it is likely to face an uphill struggle.

A two-day hearing that kicks off in Brussels this morning will present the group with one final chance to quash allegations that it ignored key parts of the European Commission antitrust ruling of March 2004.
