Sal Oppenheim has survived some turbulent episodes in its history but the probable entry of Deutsche Bank would be another revolution for a bank founded in 1789.

Ceding a significant minority stake, or even control, to Deutsche Bank would end the its boast of proud independence, which it sees as one of its main attractions for clients.
