Just back from Mumbai, where he enjoyed a screening of Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire sipping cocktails at a five-screen multiplex, Mark Wood, the boss of UK pensions buy-out group Paternoster, is promoting an internet auction for victims of the Mumbai terrorist attack.
The former Prudential director, who might drum up funds for Patenoster this year from backers including Eric Mindich 's hedge fund Eton Park, has started with a bit of philanthropic fundraising. He aims to add to a £600,000 stash raised last year through the internet auction. The offerings have a big foodie element and include master classes by Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar of Benares. No bids yet for a one-day editorship of trade title Professional Pensions magazine, on the website www.mumbaiappeal.com
