Yen retreats as equities recover

The yen fell sharply against the dollar and other leading currencies as concerns over a possible central bank intervention or rate cut stemmed the Japanese currency’s recent surge.

The yen has soared in recent days as fears of a sharp slowdown in the global economy triggered a wave of deleveraging, prompting a collapse in asset markets.
