Hays gloomy on UK recruitment outlook

Hays, the UK’s largest recruitment company, warned that the slump in the hiring accelerated in the first months of this year, pointing to deepening problems for the industry at large.

Paul Venables, finance director, said that around 20 per cent of all recruitment companies in the UK will disappear in the next few years because of falling demand for new staff during the economic downturn.
