Sheffield United’s players are following their club into the courtroom and preparing to sue West Ham United for compensation over the “Carlos Tevez affair”, the latest development in a saga that threatens to turn football into a lawyers’ playground.
The Aim-listed Championship club this week told the stock exchange it had won an independent tribunal, set up under Football Association regulations, which ruled that West Ham had illegally played Tevez during the 2006-07 season.
