Conservative MPs on Thursday pledged to repay a further £130,000 ($213,745) of expense claims deemed inappropriate by an internal review, in what David Cameron described as an effort to “atone for the mistakes of the past”.
The repayments – for claims ranging from gardening to swimming pool cleaning – followed an interim report by the party’s “scrutiny panel”, which examined each Tory MP’s expenses record. The pledges bring the total Tory repayments to more than £260,000.
