Hispanics clinched swing states for Obama

For years political pundits have forecast the emergence of the Latino voting bloc as a potent force in US politics, able to sway tightly fought elections.

In successive presidential elections, those predictions failed to come true. But on Tuesday Hispanic voters helped clinch a number of swing states for Barack Obama, redrawing the political map in the process.
