Problems of obesity hit poor countries

Policies to combat malnutrition need to target the obese as well as the emaciated - and the key to preventing both lies in good nutrition for infants aged up to two, the United Nations said yesterday.

Catherine Bertini, chair of the UN standing committee on nutrition, said obesity was no longer a problem only for rich countries. Poor nations were now facing both types of malnutrition and their associated health risks.
