Raila Odinga, Kenya’s opposition leader, has postponed street protests planned for Thursday that risked sparking fresh violence after the suspension of talks to end the country’s post-election crisis.
Mr Odinga made the announcement on Wednesday at a press conference with Kofi Annan, the chief mediator, who is engaged shuttle diplomacy between Mr Odinga and president Mwai Kibaki as he seeks to revive the talks.
