Wellcome opens medical museum

James Watson, who jointly discovered the DNA double helix, opened what he declared was the world's finest museum of medical science in London yesterday.

The Wellcome Collection houses 1,300 exhibits, ranging from ancient amputation saws and Aztec sacrificial knives to the latest gene-sequencing robot, in a £30m renovation of the 1932 Wellcome Building on Euston Road.
