UK Gordon Brown’s relations with the military hit another low on Sunday, when a uniformed adviser at the Ministry of Defence leaked documents to the Tories revealing the weak state of the Royal Navy.
The official also alleged that Des Browne, defence secretary, was set to postpone a £3.8bn order for two new aircraft carriers last month because of an overstretched budget, but desisted because it would hit dockyard jobs in Mr Brown’s Scottish constituency.
