Conrad Black’s fall from grace

Lord Black once rubbed shoulders with the great and the good. His friends included Henry and Marie-Josée Kravis, the Wall Street financier and his economist wife, as well as Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s former prime minister. But Lord Black’s life took a dramatic turn in 2003 when investors at Hollinger International started asking questions.

Ultimately, those questions led to an independent inquiry at Hollinger, and allegations that Lord Black had siphoned tens of millions of dollars from the publisher of the Daily Telegraph, Jerusalem Post and Chicago Sun-Times.
