José Contilla: Quiet Catalan’s broking skills put to the test

He is known as the quiet Catalan. And José Montilla, 50, is, indeed, unassuming and soft-spoken. But as Spain’s industry, commerce and tourism minister, he holds one of the most influential economic posts in the country.

Some pundits argue that he is more powerful than Pedro Solbes, who is a bit blasé about being finance minister for the second time.
