EU set to back Gdansk shipyard rescue

State aid for the historic Gdansk shipyard is set to be approved by the European Commission after improvements were made to restructuring plans for the facility, top officials said in Brussels on Tuesday.

The move, which could be finalised in the next couple of months, would end years of bitter and politically-charged wrangling between Poland and Brussels.
