Severstal confident as earnings increase 24%

Severstal, Russia’s biggest steelmaker, gave an upbeat outlook for the steel industry this year, after announcing a 24 per cent rise in earnings on an ebitda basis for 2007.

“Steel demand will be robust this year,” said Alexei Mordashov, Severstal’s chief executive and majority shareholder.
