The European arm of China’s state trainmakers has said it will build the UK’s second final assembly plant for trains if a Chinese manufacturer wins a key order for carriages.
Chinese Sourced Railway Equipment is considering setting up an assembly and testing plant if CSR Nanjing Puzhen wins the £300m ($445m) order to build 200 carriages for diesel trains. People involved expect the plant to be located in south Wales.
