FSA begins review of bank bonuses

The City watchdog has begun a review of banks’ bonus structures, it emerged on Monday, as government ministers ratcheted up their attacks on payouts.

The Financial Services Authority said it had begun preliminary “high level” discussions with leading banks earlier this month. But it warned that the issue needed international co-operation and could not be dealt with by a single country.
