BT trials to track web surfers

BT will shortly begin trials of an advertising technology that could have profound implications for the internet economy and online privacy.

The telecoms group will use technology from an Aim-listed company, Phorm, to track the web-surfing habits of its internet users to enable it to target advertising more tightly.
