If it had not been for his mother, Hong Kong’s most famous cross-border property tycoon might have had a rather less successful career in the publishing industry. Vincent Lo, chairman and chief executive of Shui On Land, was one of nine children born to Lo Ying-shek, a Hong Kong property magnate. However, he was not his father’s heir apparent and something of a prodigal son.
“I was number six in the pecking order and I was lost,” says Mr Lo. “I also wasn’t a good boy.”
