Financial Times Makes Key European Appointments

The Financial Times today announces the appointment of Tony Barber as Brussels bureau chief and Ben Hall as Paris correspondent.

In his new role Tony will maintain and expand the FT’s leading coverage of the European Union and ensure a rich flow of business, political and foreign policy news, delivering analysis on broader trends in Europe.

Currently Rome bureau chief, Tony joined the FT in 1997 as European news editor and has also held the position of Frankfurt bureau chief.

As Paris correspondent, Ben will be responsible for day-to-day political reporting as well as some corporate sectors in one of the FT’s busiest bureaux. Ben joined the FT in 2000 and has also been deputy comment editor and a leader writer.

Both Tony and Ben take up their new positions in September this year.

Robert Anderson, foreign correspondent for the Financial Times for nine years, will now cover the whole of Scandinavia and the Baltic States, together with the existing Nordic correspondent David Ibison.
