Brown explains business council

The prime minister has underlined his determination to build stronger links with corporate Britain by unveiling details of the new business council that will advise him.

In an attempt to dispel scepticism that the council would prove simply another talking shop, Gordon Brown revealed that its twice-yearly meetings would be attended by the prime minister, Alistair Darling, the chancellor, and John Hutton, the business secretary.
