There is hardly a major dance company these days that does not sport a farm team. Three of these, Ailey II, ABT II and Taylor 2, appeared on different nights in the Joyce's 123 Festival. All are junior but by no means minor offshoots of their parent companies and are completely professional, if sometimes a little rough round the edges. It was comforting to see, as they presented excerpts from their respective repertoires along with new works especially choreographed for them, that there is a healthy supply of talent in the pipeline.

In its programme, Taylor 2 drew on works from the main repertoire, scaled down in size for its six members (it may be remembered that Taylor's original company consisted of six). The programme included Runes , Profiles , Arden Court and, on the evening I saw it, a duet from Roses , the least effective of the choices as, torn from its dreamily effective whole, it looked rather lost, in spite of tender dancing from Jamie Rae Walker and Justin Kahan.
