Of all the currencies to have suffered from the US dollar’s recent resurgence, the Aussie’s fall from grace is among the most remarkable.

The Australian dollar has lost more than 11 per cent against its US rival during the last month and shows little sign of a sustained rebound. On Wednesday it slumped to a low of $0.8594, its weakest level in seven months.
