Trevor Matthews leaves Standard Life

Trevor Matthews, the highly regarded head of Standard Life’s UK retail division, is set to be appointed as the new chief executive of Friends Provident, after resigning from Standard Life.

Mr Matthews’ resignation comes despite early indications from people close to him that he was set to stay at Standard Life, in an effort to secure the top job at the life assurer, despite discussions with Friends and a number of other companies.
