Head of World Bank cautions against ‘politicisation’

The appointment of Paul Wolfowitz as president of the World Bank must not lead to “politicisation” of the institution and its mission, the bank's outgoing president warned.`

James Wolfensohn, who steps down at the end of May after 10 years at the bank, said that the controversial selection process has contributed to a “dangerous trend of regionalisation of opinion” on the bank's board.
