Price of crude oil and bullion begins to ebb

Crude oil prices fell by more than $1 yesterday after reaching a fresh 2009 high in the previous session. Gold prices also softened as commodity markets paused for breath after recent strong gains.

Nymex December West Texas Intermediate dropped $1.02 to $80.35 after hitting $82 in the previous session, a high for 2009. ICE December Brent lost 89 cents to $79.80.
