Anglo American takes axe to 2,700 managers

Anglo American has stripped down its management structure in a move it expects will save $120m (£72m) a year.

The planned cull of 2,700 white collar positions – including two divisional chiefs – comes a week after rival Xstrata dropped attempts to merge with Anglo and highlights the pressure its top management faces this year to deliver better returns as an independent company.
