Italian tax amnesty bill triggers uproar

Italy’s Senate approved a controversial tax amnesty on Wednesday that includes repatriation of money held abroad through accounting fraud and other financial crimes.

Centre-left senators walked out of the chamber without voting, accusing Silvio Berlusconi’s centre-right government of condoning criminality.
