Barack Obama pledged that his administration would do “all we can to get exploding deficits under control as our economy begins to recover” in his weekly address to the nation Saturday.

The president said that work “begins on Monday” when he will convene a summit of members of Congress and outside experts to discuss how to achieve long term fiscal discipline.
