Hutchison chief ends battle to operate in India

The world’s largest container port operator is no longer seeking approval to operate in India after a series of protracted battles with the country’s authorities, its chief executive has said.

John Meredith of Hong Kong’s Hutchison Ports was also critical of the fees demanded by the Indian government of operators wanting to enter the small but fast-growing market.
