Hillary Clinton, US secretary of state, marked America’s re-entry into Asian regional politics on Wednesday with a warning about the dangers of a potential nuclear alliance between Burma and North Korea.

“I want to send a very clear message that the United States is back, that we are fully engaged and committed to our relationships in Southeast Asia,” Mrs Clinton said.
