Calello takes sick leave from Credit Suisse

Paul Calello, the head of Credit Suisse’s investment bank and one of the few finance executives to have emerged from the crisis as a rising star, is taking leave from his job to be treated for a “sudden and unexpected illness”.

The company said on Wednesday that Eric Varvel, the London-based head of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Credit Suisse, would take on Mr Calello’s responsibilities for the time being.
