Capital and GWR in merger talks

Capital Radio and GWR have sounded the starting gun for the long-awaited consolidation of the UK radio industry by confirming they are in merger talks to create a £700m broadcaster.

The two companies, which have been in intermittent merger discussions since the government lifted ownership restrictions at the start of the year, on Sunday formally announced that the talks were over a nil premium, all-share deal.
