Shanghai breaks 3,000 barrier

Chinese stocks passed the 3,000 mark this week for the first time in 13 months after positive data boosted optimism about a recovery in its economy.

The Shanghai Composite index rose 0.9 per cent on Friday, up 5.5 per cent over the week, to 3,088.37.
