Bouton wins backing from SocGen board

The board of Société Générale on Wednesday defied a chorus of criticism to back Daniel Bouton, the bank’s embattled chairman, even as France’s central bank governor gave a damning verdict of the bank’s risk controls.

In a four-hour meeting, directors also discussed the conditions under which the board would talk to potential bidders, according to one person familiar with the situation.
