Tory pledge on flexible working attacked

Business criticised a pledge yesterday to extend employees' right to request flexible working in the first term of a Conservative government, as Labour held back from proposing any laws in this area.

The differing approaches emerged as the parties contested the important election battleground of family policies, including parental leave and part-time working.
