Winning streak ends as Wall St opens

Europe’s bourses fell for the first time in six sessions on Thursday after an about-turn saw them follow Wall Street lower.

Having opened higher, markets continued to rise as they took in an expected European Central Bank announcement that included an interest rate cut and bond purchase programme. It was only when US markets opened that things took a turn for the worse.
