Arts lobbying pays off

Spending on the arts will increase in line with inflation over the next three years, a move that was welcomed by arts leaders, who had launched an unprecedented campaign to prevent funding cuts.

Funding for the department of culture, media and sport will increase from the current figure of £1.7bn, to £2.2bn by 2010-11.
