Lads magazines take a battering

When Sport magazine became the latest consumer title to cease publication last week, thousands of male commuters bemoaned the loss of London’s popular men’s lifestyle freebie.

But its overnight disappearance and the failure of Sport Media & Strategie, its French parent, to find a buyer for the UK operation has raised questions about the viability of the free magazine model amid the weakened advertising market.
