Three years and counting, and there is no mistaking the excitement of even experienced athletes at the prospect of competing at an Olympic Games in their home country.
“I think it will be absolutely unbelievable,” says Camberwell-born Tasha Danvers, an Olympic bronze medallist at 400m hurdles at last year’s Games in Beijing. “There’s nothing like competing in front of your home crowd,” she adds. “I was born in London, so it’s not just my country, it’s my city.”
