Carriers’ antitrust rethink

American Airlines and British Airways may reapply for immunity from antitrust laws that limit their co-operation in spite of past efforts to forge closer ties being stymied by US regulators.

In 1997 and 2001 the carriers sought the right to co-ordinate their global schedules, fares and frequent-flyer programmes.
