Rock plunges despite ‘full spectrum’ of offers

Northern Rock, the stricken UK bank, is understood to have now received most of the eight to 10 proposals which it has been expecting, including some pitched “aggressively low”.

Shares in the bank fell by 21 per cent to 104.2p on Monday, valuing the bank at about £440m ($902m).
