Oilsands: Boom of gold rush proportions in Alberta

Behind the euphoria of high crude prices, bulging cash flows and a slew of new projects, Canada’s oilsands producers are confronting an array of sobering realities.

Caution is the watchword, concluded Dominion Bond Rating Service of Toronto in a recent report on the sector. Concerns listed by the report include labour shortages, the high cost of buying oilsands reserves, and rising debt levels among smaller operators.
