China increases jail terms for piracy

China’s top court has strengthened the country’s anti-piracy laws with a series of measures that will increase prison terms for wrongdoers and define more precisely copyright and trademark violations.

The announcement by the Supreme People’s Court on Tuesday followed a new round of complaints from the US and Europe in recent months over the huge financial losses they say are caused by piracy of their products in China.
