Mayor calls for NY air congestion charge

Michael Bloomberg, the New York City mayor, has backed the introduction of an airborne congestion charge to tackle delays at the city’s airports.

Mr Bloomberg, who is pushing for a street congestion charge to limit traffic in Manhattan, has been lobbying the US administration about the consequences for the city’s financial services and tourism sectors of federal proposals to restrict flights into New York’s John F Kennedy airport.
