For Courts, the furniture retailer, this week started with an angry customer throwing one of its security guards in Milton Keynes through a shop window, breaking his arm.

It was not a good day for Mick McLoughlin, the seasoned administrator from KPMG who has the unenviable job of trying to salvage some value in Courts.
