Simon Johnson is the Ronald A. Kurtz (1954) professor of entrepreneurship at MIT Sloan School of Management.

From March 2007 to August 2008, Prof Johnson was the International Monetary Fund’s economic counsellor (chief economist) and director of its research department.

A co-founder of BaselineScenario.com, a website about the global economy, he contributes regularly for the New York Times’s economics blog “Economix”.

He has also written for BusinessWeek, Bloomberg and The Financial Times. Earlier this year he became contributing business editor at The Huffington Post.

Along with James Kwak, a former consultant for McKinsey & Company, Prof Johnson is the co-author of “13 Bankers: The Wall Street Takeover and The Next Financial Meltdown”, covering the dangers presented by the US financial sector.
