Almost exactly five months after the official launch of the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award, seven judges are meeting for the first time face to face. In front of them are the books on the secret “long list” of potential winners and over two hours of intense and intriguing debate. These are busy people. Some have flown in from Asia and Europe for this meeting. But they are under orders not to leave until they have chosen a short list of six.
